Bak Kut Teh – What’s that?

It’s hard to describe to foreigners what’s Bak Kut Teh. Herbal Pork Rib Soup? It doesn’t say much actually. Anyone can tell me how to do it better?

Perhaps, these pictures would paint a thousand words. This is a picture of Bak Kut Teh from Amoy Food Centre #02-106. The set costs S$4.00.

The stall owner was nice to lend me one of her bowls for a prop! 🙂


This is how the dish is paired with rice, dough fritter and dark sauce (with chopped chilli padi). A Bak Kut Teh meal would be complete with Gungfoo tea! (Tie Guan Yin)  😉
